Cafer Gürcafer, President of the Cyprus Turkish Building Contractors Association (KTİMB), voiced concerns that the ongoing Assembly Presidency crisis is causing significant harm to the economy. Gürcafer emphasized that politicians must urgently resolve the crisis while respecting the rule of law.
In his statement, Gürcafer highlighted that the crisis goes beyond the election or non-election of a Speaker. "The Assembly is currently at a standstill. This means that critical laws needed to address the economic difficulties will not be passed," he said. He stressed the importance of restoring the Assembly’s functionality, stating, "For us, a solution or an acceptable outcome is for the Assembly to regain and demonstrate its functionality."
"Even the Deaf Sultan Can Hear the Alarm Bells of the Economy"
Gürcafer underscored the urgency of the situation, remarking, "No one should expect the business community to tolerate the Assembly's inefficiency." He pointed out that several urgent laws are pending, adding, "The economy's alarm bells are so loud that even the deaf sultan can hear them."
