Yesterday, traffic teams conducted inspections across the country, checking a total of 1,839 vehicle drivers. According to information provided by the police, 301 drivers were reported for various traffic offences, leading to legal actions. Additionally, 28 vehicles were banned from traffic, and 3 drivers were arrested.
Summary of Traffic Offences:
- Speeding: 124 drivers exceeded the legal speed limit.
- Driving Under the Influence: 11 drivers were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
- Driving Without a Licence and Insurance: 1 offence reported.
- Mobile Phone Use While Driving: 24 offences.
- Seat Belt Violations: 5 offences for not wearing a seat belt.
- No Navigating Licence: 21 offences.
- No Insurance: 5 offences for driving without insurance.
- Heavy Trucks on Restricted Roads: 8 offences for using a truck weighing 5,000 kg or more on the Kyrenia-Nicosia Main Road.
- Other Traffic Offences: 102 offences.
In addition, a person residing without a residence permit was arrested and legal action was taken against him for his illegal status in the country.
