The Deputy Prime Ministry, Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) participated in the Antalya 2024 Tourism Fair, held from October 23-25. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Fikri Ataoğlu attended the event alongside key figures, including Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin and TRNC Antalya Consul General Aslı Erkmen. The fair brings together over 25,000 tourism professionals from 35 countries.
The TRNC delegation, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Cyprus Turkish Hoteliers Association (KITOB), Cyprus Turkish Travel Agencies Association (KITSAB), and the Health Tourism Council, showcased the country's tourism potential. The TRNC stand offered promotional materials and introduced visitors to traditional Turkish Cypriot cuisine.
Minister Fikri Ataoğlu's Speech
In his opening remarks, Minister Ataoğlu emphasized the importance of the Antalya Fair for promoting Northern Cyprus on an international platform. He highlighted the unique tourism offerings of the TRNC, including its rich history, culture, and natural beauty, noting the growing number of tourists visiting the island each year.
Ataoğlu also introduced the "Island Cyprus Tourism Brand" (Ada Kıbrıs), which focuses on sustainable development and quality tourism, positioning Northern Cyprus as a destination beyond just "sea, sand, and sun." He pointed out the island’s diverse offerings, from historical sites to nature trails, and expressed his commitment to turning Northern Cyprus into a year-round tourism hub.
He concluded by expressing his hopes that the fair would foster collaborations that will enhance both TRNC’s and the global tourism sectors.
