Turkey Contributes $100,000 to the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP)

    The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia has contributed $100,000 to the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP). During the handover ceremony, Turkish Ambassador to Nicosia, Yasin Ekrem Serim, presented the donation cheque to Hakkı Müftüzade, the Turkish Cypriot member of the CMP, emphasizing the committee’s unwavering commitment to finding and identifying missing persons.

    Ambassador Serim: "52% of Missing Persons Have Been Identified"

    Ambassador Serim highlighted that the CMP has been working tirelessly since 1981 to locate, identify, and return the remains of those who went missing during the incidents between 1963 and 1974. He expressed gratitude to the committee for their dedication, noting that 52% of the missing persons have been identified and returned to their families. Serim stated, "Our hope is that this work will be completed as soon as possible and that the remaining missing persons will also be found and returned to their families."

    He also pointed out that Turkey consistently contributes to the CMP’s work, with this year's $100,000 donation marking another step in supporting the committee’s efforts.

    Hakkı Müftüzade: "Turkey’s Contributions Since 2006 Exceed $1.7 Million"

    Hakkı Müftüzade expressed gratitude on behalf of the committee, acknowledging the ongoing support from Turkey. He highlighted the significance of the donations, noting that Turkey’s contributions since 2006 have exceeded $1.7 million. Müftüzade added, "This meaningful donation will help us continue our work more effectively, and as always, we are grateful to our homeland."
