The Greek Cypriot Administration, which has made various attempts at the Council of Europe to render the Immovable Property Committee mechanism dysfunctional, is returning empty-handed from the Council of Europe Committee of Delegates meeting.
The Greek Cypriot side, which is trying to annul the decisions regarding the establishment of the TMK, could not get the voting support it expected at the meeting on human rights held in Strasbourg by the Committee of Delegates of the Council of Europe to monitor whether the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights are being implemented.
The Greek Cypriot side, which could not find the support it wanted in the examination conducted under the title of “Property Rights of Displaced Persons” in Cyprus at the meeting of the committee that started on September 17, was trying to bring the issue before the European Court of Human Rights again. The Greek Cypriot side wants to ensure that some issues regarding the Cyprus v. Turkey compensation decision are interpreted by the ECHR.
According to last minute information received from diplomatic sources, members of the Committee of Delegates of the Council of Europe rejected the initiative of the Greek side because the required majority was not obtained.
