New Work Permit Security Deposit Requirement for Third-World Country Citizens in TRNC

    The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has announced a new security deposit requirement for all work permit applications submitted by employers for third-world country citizens working in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

    Key Changes Effective February 24, 2025

    Deposit Amount: A 250 Euro security deposit will be required for each third-world country worker applying for a work permit.
    Employer Commitment Letter: Employers must submit a notarized undertaking covering:

    • The duration of the worker’s permit.
    • The costs of returning the worker to their home country if employment ends.

    Work Permit Application Process & Requirements

    ???? Download the Commitment Letter: Employers must obtain a sample letter from the Ministry’s online service portal (csgb.gov.ct.tr).
    ???? Submission & Notarization: The letter must be filled, signed (by Directors if a company), notarized, and uploaded to the portal.
    ???? Hand Delivery: The original commitment letter must be submitted in person to the designated unit in the Ministry.

    Penalties for Non-Compliance

    ⚠️ If an employer fails to meet the conditions stated in the commitment letter, their future work permit applications for third-world country citizens will be suspended for one year.

    System Adjustments & Transitional Period

    • Applications submitted before February 24, 2025, but not yet evaluated, will have the deposit requirement automatically adjusted to 250 Euros.
    • Applications approved before February 24, 2025, with the guarantee already uploaded, will not be affected.

    This regulation, issued under Article 34 of the Work Permits for Foreigners Regulation, aims to streamline work permit processes while ensuring that employers take responsibility for foreign workers in TRNC.
