Kyrenia Mayor Murat Şenkul has drawn attention to the sewerage infrastructure problems in the city through a statement on his social media account. He emphasized that while some visible issues in Kyrenia are recognized, the sewerage infrastructure remains an overlooked concern until problems arise.
Mayor Şenkul provided updates on ongoing sewerage infrastructure projects, stating that within two years, the main carrier line from Kyrenia to the Karaoğlanoğlu border was extended, ensuring proper infrastructure for the new state hospital before its completion. Additionally, a sewage line was installed on the eastern side of Doğanköy, while work in Kervansaray is expected to be completed within a month with the activation of a new pump station. Further upgrades include the sewerage line project for the western part of Zeytinlik, which is set to begin soon.
Şenkul also noted that existing pump stations have been maintained, renovated, and replaced as part of the UNDP project to improve the city’s infrastructure.
The mayor concluded his statement by sharing a photo illustrating the construction conditions for the new pump station being built next to the Kyrenia Main Pump Station, reinforcing his commitment to action over words.
