Hüseyin Şişman, Interim Chairman of the Cyprus Turkish Notary Association (KTTMD), emphasized that notarized consent documents issued by notaries operating within the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) are fully legal and valid.
In a written statement, Şişman clarified that children under the age of 18 must present a notarized consent document at border gates to travel alone, with one parent, or accompanied by a third party, whether crossing into Southern Cyprus via land or traveling abroad by air or sea.
Addressing misleading claims circulating on social media and digital platforms about the validity of notarized consent documents, Şişman stated:
"Notarized Documents are Legally Binding"
“We would like to underline that consent documents notarized by notaries operating within the borders of TRNC are legal and valid. These documents, bearing the stamp and signature of official notaries in TRNC, have a legal basis and are fully recognized at border gates.”
The statement aims to counter false allegations and reassure the public about the legal standing of notarized consent documents in the TRNC.
