The Nicosia Municipality Orchestra presented the much-anticipated Evan’s Concert at the Rauf Denktaş University Cultural Center, captivating the audience with world-class performances. Conducted by Chief Oskay Hoca, the event featured remarkable solo performances by Mehmet Evan and Ahmet Evan, as well as an exquisite selection of duets.
The concert showcased timeless classics, with duet performances of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”, James Brown’s “It’s a Man’s Man’s World”, Jose Feliciano’s “Gypsy”, Tom Jones’ “Delilah”, and Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”. Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB) Mayor Mehmet Harmancı expressed his excitement over the father-son duo sharing the stage. “Everyone was thrilled to see SOS band’s lead singer Mehmet Evan and his son, lead singer Ahmet Evan, performing together,” Harmancı said.
In his remarks, Mayor Harmancı wished the audience a peaceful new year. “I hope 2025 brings peace to all of us. Let’s leave wars behind and welcome 2025 with hope and harmony,” he said. He also praised the Nicosia Municipality Orchestra for their contributions to public art, calling them “the locomotive of public art in the country.”
